Pastor E.A Adeboye’s Convention – My Unreasonable Opinion

The ongoing annual convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, on Tuesday, received enormous publicity. This as a result of some things said by Daddy G.O, see excerpts below:

He advised, “Marry a prayer warrior! Don’t marry any girl who cannot pray for one hour non-stop. Don’t marry a girl who is lazy! If she is lazy when she is single, what will happen if she is married?” Don’t marry a girl who cannot cook, she needs to know how to do chores and cook because you cannot afford to be eating out all the time.

he also warned, “Don’t marry a man who has no job. Before God gave Adam Eve, he gave him a job. He said, ‘This is the garden, keep it.’ So when anybody comes to you and say, ‘Sister, thus saith the Lord, you are going to be the star in my firmament,’ ask him — ‘What is your job?’

“If he tells you he is a contractor, ask him to show you evidence of all the contracts he has done because the contract he is talking about is you. He wants to live off you.

“Don’t be a fool. If he hasn’t got a steady income, don’t marry him. A man is to provide for the house and not the other way round. If he has no income, he should not marry. Those who do not work should not eat. And if they can’t eat, they can’t even marry.”

There are so many things he said, some may or may not have been taken out of contexts, but most of were not at this convention, so we do not really know the in depth of entire sermon.

But i have my own reasonable or unreasonable opinion, depending on how you see it.

First things, we need to understand is that, this is a man of God and whether or not you agree with what he said, be very careful when you criticize because you do not want the wrath of God on you.

Lets talk about the aspect of cooking:

As a man, if the woman you intend to marry does not  know how to cook (this if she has been truthful to you) and you genuinely see that this woman is willing to learn, then help her to learn, this can help you  bond with your spouse, it will be a fun experience. However, if you can see that this woman has no will what so ever to learn and you cannot cope with this or live your forever with it, then i repeat do not marry her.

Most times, the men of our generation get carried away by the things the woman brings to the table physically, yes physical is one of the many things but there is so much that goes into choosing your future partner that what you can see with your eye, so when you marry for the physical, don’t start shouting foul upandan, looking for penalty without a goalkeeper, it can’t work.

As for the praying for One Hour non-stop – No comment,  me sef i’m working on that, yes i can pray but am not sure i  have done it for one hour non-stop on my own, except its a vigil

On the part of the guys not working:

Yes you should not marry a man that does not have a job because when you start making babies they need to eat and they won’t keep feeding on breast milk and lets not even talk about the price of diapers.

In as much as we try to say money is not everything, the truth your finance is literally a major part of your marriage but then this does not stop you from supporting a man that has dreams and he has set is goals with a timeline, if you see a man that has this prospects and shows you that yes he plans for is future (Take Note of the SHOW not tell), then yes you can help make this dream a reality.

So lets all calm down and learn what we can from people and not always criticize, listen more and speak less.
