Love Or Lust

I have studied and spoken with a lot of people over time and observed some people still don’t get it, why some obviously ignores the truth. “Love and Lust” are two different things and understanding the differences will give us a clearer picture to restrain us from confusing both.

Pure lust is based utterly on physical attraction and fantasy. It often dissipates when the “real person” surfaces. While love is an intense feeling of attraction and care towards another person. It’s sad when love and lust find themselves in a relationship because at the end the relationship will cut off so fast and one party will end up with a broken heart. Though, sometimes lust can lead to love. However, real love, not based on idealization, requires time to grow and get to know each other better.

In regards to sexual attraction, learning to stay focused and listen to your gut in the early stages of being with someone is crucial. Though, it isn’t easy in the midst of hormones surging, but it’s imperative to make healthy relationship decisions. The truth is, Sometimes we hear that little voices inside our head saying “danger” or “beware. “ Yet we ignore our gut because we are blinded by love. You’re uncomfortable with how this person is treating you, but you’re afraid that if you mention it, you’ll push him or her away. We need to take our time and understand the kind of relationship we are going into and what to expect. So, ask yourself, is my partner truly in love with me? Is it safe for me to be in this relationship?

Here are some signs to watch for to differentiate pure lust from love:

SIGNS OF LUST

  • When you’re totally focused on a person’s looks and body.
  • When all you care about is having sex, but not conversations.
  • You are lovers, but not friends.
  • When you prefer to keep the relationship on a fantasy level, and not discuss real feelings.

SIGNS OF LOVE

  • When you get lost in conversations and forget about time.
  • When you want to spend quality time together other than sex.
  • When he or she motivates you to be a better person.
  • When you want to get to meet his or her family and friends.
  • When you want to honestly listen to each other’s feelings, make each other happy.

So what is your story right now? Love? Or lust? Think deep and make healthy relationship decisions.
