Nigeria’s Theme Songs of the Late 90s…where are they?

So i spent hours and hours looking for two songs on google and youtube  but sadly no luck, the songs are::

Nigeria 1999 them song, were we had an Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba singers and the new millenium songs, we were celebrating entering the new millennium.

Anyways, its so disappointing that none of these songs are on the internet, if you find it please send it to me (anythingoye@gmail.com), NTA is just am sorry a disappointment, i know you people have both songs in your archive, please we need to relieve our childhood again.

Anyways i could not find the song but i found the lyrics, written by nairaland commenter. PS : some parts of this write is wrong, even though i do not know the correct version.

Nigeria 1999 theme Song :

(Chorus by all)
Welcome to Nigeria 99
Welcome to Africa
Welcome to the land where milk and honey flows

sadAn igbo lady swingings her hips takes to the stage singing)
e bata go ni obodo oma
ebe I hu ni anya di
e ba ta go ni obodo oma ebe ife oma di – i’m sure a line is missing??? help

An Hausa guy jumps in almost immediately
(Zaki carrying a stick on his neck typical fulani style sings)
Danka rankuza rankuza edenchi
meena yangu ya
danka rinkazo rinkazo a yangu ya   (this part does not follow the mashup in my head, but i will manage it)

Yoruba: (Yoruba dude with short shokoto and long cap takes over)
Ekabor si ori e to o wa
ekabor sori something….help
E ma gbadun ara yin

Adun ni o gbe yin o

All now gather together and chorus English version
Welcome to Nigeria 99
Welcome to Africa
Welcome to the land where milk and honey flows ……. (chorus till fade)

New Millenium Song :

Nigeria, a land of plenty
May the good things of life
Come our way
In the new millenium
We can make it happen
Each and everyone of us
Has got a part to play

Nigeria, a people united
A future assured
Join hands let’s take Nigeria higher

There’s so much we can do
Between me and you
Discipline, tolerance
Make them your watch word
Respecting each other
Loving one another
Staying together
One people, one future

Good roads, electricity
A sound health program
All we need is discipline
To manage our resources
Make this 54th independence
Joyful for everyone
Water, food, shelter
All the good things of life

  1. the yoruba version of the Nigeria 99 theme song read.

Ekabo so ri eto wa (Welcome to our programme/event)
Ekabo sori ile wa (Welcome to our land)
Ekabo sori ile olora (Welcome to the land rich in resources)
e ma gbadun arayin (Keep enjoying yourself)
Adun ni yi o gbeyin o (it will end in joy – not too certain of this line though)

  2. then for the millenium theme song, i think the 4th stanza here (good roads, electricity….) is actually the third in the song while your third stanza (there is so much we can do…) comes last. Moreso, the line “Make the 54th independence” actually read “Make the new millenium”. Hence the millenium song goes as:

    Nigeria, a land of plenty
May the good things of life
    Come our way
    In the new millenium
    We can make it happen
    Each and everyone of us
Has got a part to play

    [chorus]
    Nigeria, a people united
    A future assured
Join hands let’s take Nigeria higher

    Good roads, electricity
    A sound health program
    All we need is discipline
    To manage our resources
    Make this new millenium
    Joyful for everyone
    Water, food, shelter
All the good things of life

There’s so much we can do
    Between me and you
    Discipline, tolerance
    Make them your watch word
    Respecting each other
    Loving one another
    Staying together
    One people, one future

    [chorus]
    Nigeria, a people united
    A future assured
Join hands let’s take Nigeria higher

    A future assured
Join hands let’s take Nigeria higher
